Sunscreen For Black Girls

As a black woman I never thought I needed sunscreen. However, that all changed one afternoon after a visit to the doctor's office following my decision to get on Accutane to clear my acne. During this visit, I was told I would need to keep my self hydrated, my lips and face moisturised but most importantly use SPF 50. This was recommended to reduce my chances of getting sunburned.  There are of course additional benefits to using sunscreen (i.e. reducing your chances of getting skin cancer), which you can find more about here. However, finding the right sunscreen for my skin tone and skin type was not an easy process. I believe this because in large part beauty brands are aware that many black people do not use sunscreen which is why many of these brands don't cater to us. _________________________________________________________________________________ According to  The American Journal of Preventive Medicine , 63% of African-American never use sunscreen. ___

Could Instagram Be Removing The Like Button?

Instagram To Hide Like Button

If you like Keeping Up With Kanye West then you may recall that not too long ago, Kanye suggested that Instagram should give users the option to disable the like function (and hide followers) on their accounts. Now it looks like Instagram may be going full steam ahead with plans to make this all possible.

During the Wired25 conference earlier today, Instagram's CEO Adam Mosseri said that as of next week the company will be hiding the like buttons from users in the US. 

 However, the US won't be only country to experience the change. According to reports the test is reportedly being carried out in Canada, Brazil, Japan Ireland, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand.

The company's CEO also stated that the test will be done in hopes of “depressurize(ing)” Instagram, while making it “less of a competition”. This will also be done in hopes of combating “anxiety” and “reduce social comparison”.

Lyft To Offer Customers Rides At Discounted Prices and More

In a bid to help pay it forward, the popular taxi service Lyft are offering job seekers rides to job interviews at a discounted price, and in some cases - free. According to a spokesperson who spoke exclusively with Engadget, Lyft will be helping a range of passengers including ex-convicts, veterans, refugees, those with disabilities, those in low-income areas and first time works and 18 to 24-year-olds. The spokesperson also adds that if the job seeker is able to secure a job, Lyft will happen passenger to get to and from work during their first three weeks of employment. This news comes on the heels of the company's announcement to spend $50 million a year on sustainability, transportation infrastructure, and donated rides. Source -  Engadget
